A four-day weekend with a pair of bank holidays is the perfect opportunity for many to unwind. But if you're planning a visit to your local supermarket, it might not be as simple as usual.
Besides the reduced hours typically seen over bank holidays, most supermarkets are prohibited from opening on Easter Sunday due to UK trading laws. These government regulations stipulate that all large supermarkets must remain closed on Easter Sunday and Christmas Day.
However, this rule doesn't apply to other bank holidays. As a result, there's a mixture of operating hours, with some supermarkets running on reduced schedules while others maintain their regular hours.
Below, we've compiled a summary of the major supermarkets' opening times. While it's always best to verify individual store hours using locator tools, these are general rules for most branches, reports Lancs Live.
